Hardship Letter Examples

   Hardship Letter New Baby

I am writing to try to {consolidate my loan, avoid foreclosure, restructure a payment plan} for {my mortgage, my personal loan, car loan, etc.}.

I fell behind on my payments {or will fall behind} on {date}, due to the arrival of my newborn child. {Name} was born on {date} and I have been on maternity leave that started on {date} and will extend to {date}. The cost of having a baby coupled with the loss of income from my job has resulted in insufficient funds to pay for the aforementioned loan.

The cost of medical bills due to {complications} also took a large portion of my savings, leaving me only {amount} left to make loan payments. Preparing for the baby's arrival was also costly, considering the expenses for {large needs}. My partner continues to make {income amount}, but that is not enough to cover our needs at this time.

Fortunately, this is a temporary situation, so I hope that it will be possible to come up with a short-term plan until my income resumes at {time}. {If this is for a mortgage, specify whether you'd like to stay in your home, or whether the home is up for sale already. For any other loan, come up with some sort of plan for repayment, such as lower payments each month, a lower interest rate, etc., and suggest it here.}

I am hoping that we can work out some sort of solution as quickly as possible. Please contact me immediately so that we can begin this process.
